Hometown Heritage

We are an archive of stories. The stories told in photographs, interviews, and even memoirs. The story of small town America and what brings people there. Located in Perry, Iowa we are a living archive collecting the history of our city, our state, and ultimately our nation, through the eyes of the people that come here. We have collected a vast photo history of our city and each respective wave of immigration that built it. Our goal is to bring life to our rich social history and the arts through the study of how our city was formed, wave upon wave, by immigrants settling here to find a better life and the contributions that they made. Our hope is to thus increase our community's capacity and positively impact future development. Showing through our history that the things that brought families here a century ago are not very different from today.
