Hometown Heritage Collections
at Carnegie Library Museum
Hometown Heritage at the Carnegie Library Museum has four collections which include a photograph collection, Perry newspaper archives, Perry High School Yearbook collection, and a printed book collection.
Hometown Heritage has a collection of over 15,000 digital photographs from individuals and families throughout the area. We borrowed the photographs, scanned them, and then returned them. These photographs span the families and community from 1860 to the present. We have formal portraits, casual shots of family life, landscapes, and many more. The Carnegie Library Museum has a 3000+ book collection created in the early 2000 that has over 20 genres represented. These genres include the books from the Original Collection in 1904, a Banned Book Collection, Iowa History, a Bible Collection, an Iowa Authors’ Collection, and so forth. The Carnegie Library Museum book collection also contains books that Hometown Heritage has collected over the years. Many of these books are able to be checked out with a Perry Public Library card. The books that you cannot check out are very fragile and can only be viewed in the building. You can search for these in the Perry Public Library catalog.
