Doug Shelton, The Challenger

Picture
In the main dining room, the Challenger, we see murals by artist Doug Shelton, which depict railroad history of Perry, Iowa. 10 On the west wall we see Hiawatha – “The mural shows the Milwaukee Railroad’s Midwest Hiawatha pulling out of the Perry Station heading east to Chicago sometime in the early 1930’s.  The streamlined and polished Hiawatha was a stunning example of the mid Twentieth Century passenger train design. “ … “On the left is a 1937 Ford, another masterpiece of art-deco design.   People are milling about watching the train depart.”
